ABOUT ME
Rebekah Fowler, PhD,
IAPRC Professional Life Coach, Stanford CCARE Compassion Coach,
Certified Mindfulness Teacher
I am a curious person by nature, which has led me down a "wiggly path" in life. When my studio art major (English minor) led to uncertainty upon college graduation, I moved to the Boston area to nanny for year, followed by a return home to Central Illinois, where I sold art supplies for a year, worked as a floral designer off and on for eleven (while also getting my elementary teaching certification and hiking part of the Appalachian Trail), taught preschool for four (two years during which I also got my MA in English), and then went on to earn my PhD in Medieval Literature.

I am currently an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and have completed my Professional Coaching Certification from the Inernational Association of Professional Recovery Coaches (IAPRC). In November 2023, I graduated from Stanford University's Center for Altruism and Compassion Research and Education's (CCARE) Applied Compassion Training (ACT) program as a Compassion Coach and Ambassador. I have also earned certification in Teaching Mindfulness and will soon be a certified Beginner Tai Chi teacher.

I am also a cancer survivor and divorcee who recognizes the value of life challenges and change in opening our eyes to our deeper potential and purpose.
MY APPROACH
Compassion, Creativity, and Growth
The heart of my coaching practice is compassion: awareness of suffering and the desire and committment to alleviate it. My decision to become a coach is rooted in my own desire to realize a more compassionate and caring world and the belief that I have the tools to engage individuals in discovering and leading their most authentic, purpose-driven lives for the wellbeing of all.

As we work together, we will work on cultivating self-compassion as the cornerstone of a meaningful life. We will work with storytelling and metaphor, image and visualization as you set goals and address and overcome obstacles that may stand in the way of living authentically and fully.

My primary role as a coach is to facilitate your own self-exploration through essential questions, homework, and exercises that encourage you to find the answers within yourself. Additionally, I am your accountability partner, your cheerleader, and your sounding board as you brainstorm your potential.
